Our History: Chinese Baptist Church of Central Orange County began as a mission church sent by the Chinese Baptist Church of Orange County (CBCOC). On January 1991, following their annual church planning conference, a committee was formed that decided to plant a mission church to reach more Cantonese-speaking Chinese in South Orange County by 1993. On April 1992, the Church on Red Hill in Tustin offered to host our mission church. Rev. James Chiu, founding and senior pastor of CBCOC, volunteered to pastor the new church. By May, an open forum proposed starting the mission church and, in July members voted and approved the Church on Red Hill as our mission church site and Pastor Chiu as our mission church pastor. On January 3, 1993 Pastor Chiu with 10 families and 80 people met for the first time as a mission church. By July of 1993, the Tustin mission church became independent as the Chinese Baptist Church of Central Orange County. Our Facility: God is faithful and has provided and allowed us to build for His glory. In May 2000, after renting a facility in Tustin for over 7 years, we moved into our own facility in Irvine. Three years later, in January 2003, we completed construction of the second phase of our facility. In His time and through His provision, we hope to complete the third phase of our building plan by constructing a new main Sanctuary in the near future. |
