Howard Hendricks has been honored with the title “America’s most influential Christian teacher in the last half of the twentieth century”. He told a story about an elderly lady who came to attend a Sunday School Convention at the Moody Memorial Church in Chicago. He was impressed by the fact that this eighty-three year old woman, from a town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, did not mind traveling by Greyhound bus all the way to Chicago the night prior to the convention. Dr. Hendricks asked her why she would do that. She replied, “To learn something that would make me a better teacher.” Dr. Hendricks was even more impressed when he found out that this lady had taught a Sunday School class for Junior High boys for several decades. Eight-four boys whom she had taught became full-time ministers, and twenty-two of them are actually graduates of Dallas Theological Seminary, where Dr. Hendricks teaches. This lady’s passion for teaching the Word of God and influencing lives for Jesus ought to really inspire us all. Professor Hendricks also said, “If I died today having produced some of the people God has given me the privilege of shaping, it will have been worth showing up on the planet.” If you are not part of our Sunday School ministry, join in as soon as you can. Be a Sunday School student and equip yourself to become a Sunday School teacher. Jesus said, “Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:19)

韓浩華博士被譽為 “二十世紀下半葉美國最有影響力的基督教老師”. 他提到一位來芝加哥慕迪紀念教堂參加主日學會議的八十三歲的女士如何在他的心中留下了極之深刻的印象. 這位女士來自密西根州的上島, 她並不介意在前一個晚上乘坐灰狗巴士趕來參加大會. 韓博士問她為何肯如此做.  她説, “我要學一點東西來幫助我做一個更好的老師.” 令韓博士更加詫異的, 是他發現這位女士當了初中班男生主日學老師已經有數十年之久, 而且在她脚前受過教的學生先後有八十四位成為全職的傳道人, 其中有二十二位是畢業於韓博士任教的達拉斯神學院.  這位女士藉着教導神的話語為耶穌去影響别人的生命, 這種熱情實在足以令我們敬佩不已!  韓教授自己也曾如此表示説, “假使我今天離世時, 知道自己能够有這個殊榮, 去把那些神所託付給我的人塑造成才, 那麽我就不枉此生了!” 如果你還没有參加主日學, 我希望你盡快參加, 做個主日學生, 或裝備自己成為主日學老師. 耶穌説, “所以, 無論何人廢掉這誡命中最小的一條, 又教訓人這樣作, 他在天國要稱為最小的. 但無論何人遵行這誡命, 又教訓人遵行, 他在天國要稱為大的.” (太5:19)
