Professor William James of Harvard said that the average person develops only ten percent of his or her latent mental ability. If this is correct, all of us then have ample capacity to learn the truth of God as recorded in the Bible. Dale Carnegie, author of several best-selling books on Public Speaking, told of his ambition to become a teacher in public speaking and his many failures in the early part of his life. He did succeed in the end! Reportedly, he was so effective that more adults came to him for training in public speaking than all the students that went to public speaking extension courses conducted by Columbia University and New York University combined. Interestingly, Dale Carnegie claimed that any person can learn to speak publicly, by constant practice, and by cultivating the courage, confidence, and enthusiasm in everyday conversation that would then carry over into public speaking. “‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of men.’ ”(Matthew 4:19) This is Jesus’ claim! Anyone who follows Jesus can be His disciples. To be fishers of men is such an excellent (admirable?) calling! Personally, I have determined to follow Jesus early on, and I am going to learn something new everyday by studying His words. For Christians, following Jesus is not an option. We must be His disciples and make others become His disciples!

哈佛大學詹威廉教授認為一般人只不過動用了潛伏在自己裏面的智能的十分之一.  假如這是正確的話, 那我們每一個人都還有許多的空間去吸收更多記載在聖經中的神的真理.  寫過多本公衆演講暢銷書的作家康迪爾, 曾經談及他願望要成為一個公衆演講的教師和他早期所經歷的屢屢失敗. 他最後終於成功了!  據報導，他的教導有效到一個地步, 來跟他學習公衆演講的成人學生的數目, 比哥倫比亞大學和紐約大學公衆演講科延伸課程的學生加起來的數目還要多.  很有意思的, 康迪爾宣言說只要我們肯不斷地練習, 以及培養平常講話時的那種勇氣、信心、和熱忱, 每個人都可以學做一個公衆演講者. “耶穌對他們說: ‘來跟從我, 我要叫你得人如得魚一樣.’  ” (太4:19)  這是耶穌給我們的宣言!  每個跟隨主耶穌的人都可以做祂的門徒.  能够成為得人的漁夫實在是一個極其美好的呼召啊!  在我個人來説, 我早已決定跟隨主耶穌, 同時我也立心每天都要研讀神的話語, 學一點新的東西.  作為基督徒, 跟隨主耶穌是唯一的選擇.  我們必須作祂的門徒, 也要使别人作祂的門徒!
