When the Titanic was built in 1912, those who built it and the rest of the civilized world at that time believed and boasted that the ship was unsinkable. Allegedly a deck hand aboard Titanic said, “God Himself could not sink this ship.” Of course we now know that the Titanic, a passenger liner, struck an iceberg on her maiden voyage from England to New York and sank on April 15, 1912. As a result, 1,517 people died. I find it intriguing that after 100 years, a similar accident happened with another gigantic cruise ship. The Italian cruise ship, Costa Concordia, partially sank on January 13, 2012 after hitting a reef off the Italian coast and running aground. At least 17 people died, 64 were injured, and 15 are still listed as missing. History of mankind repeats itself in many ways. During the time of the Judges, God’s people time and again got into deep troubles upon forgetting Him during the good times. Amazingly, again and again, God showed them His mercy and grace. “Many times He delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin. But He took note of their distress when He heard their cry. ” (Psalm 106:43-44) What a story about God!

當鐵達尼號（Titanic）於 1912年建成的時候，造船的人與及當時文明世界的人都相信並且誇耀該船是一艘永不會沉的船。據稱有一位登上鐵達尼號甲板上的水手說，“就算是神，也不能把這艘船打沉”。 當然，現在我們都知道這艘英國豪華客船於1912年4月15日的處女航, 由英國開往紐約途中，因撞到冰山而遇難沉沒，結果造成1,517人死亡。 100年之後，另一艘巨大的遊輪發生意外，這件事耐人尋味。 意大利遊輪哥斯達號（Costa Concordia）於2012年1月13日在意大利海岸觸礁擱淺引致部分沉沒。 至少17人死亡，64人受傷，15仍然被列為失踪。在人類的歷史中，許多事情都類似地會重複出現。 在士師時期，神的百姓在好日子的時候就忘記神。然後，他們就落入水深火熱的地步。令人詫異的是，神竟然一次又一次地向他們顯示祂的憐憫和恩典。 “祂屢次搭救他們，他們卻設謀背逆，因自己的罪孽降為卑下。 然而，祂聽見他們哀告的時候，就眷顧他們的急難。” (詩106:43-44) 這就是神的故事！
