Word from the SENIOR pastor

Last Saturday was New Year’s Eve. During the Peace-Joy potluck dinner and year-end sharing, I gave a simple message to encourage everyone to live for God in 2012. I quoted several examples from some of God’s servants in the past. Some brothers and sisters really like those sayings and asked me for a copy. So I decided to share them today with everyone. Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758): “Resolved, That I will do whatsoever I think to be most to the glory of God, and my own good, profit, and pleasure, in the whole of my duration.” Andrew Murray (1828-1917): “May not a single moment of my life be spent outside the light, love, and joy of God's presence and not a moment without the entire surrender of myself as a vessel for Him to fill full of His Spirit and His love.” Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892): “O great and unsearchable God, who knowest my heart, and triest all my ways; with a humble dependence upon the support of Thy Holy Spirit, I yield up myself to Thee; as Thy own reasonable sacrifice, I return to Thee Thine own. I would be for ever, unreservedly, perpetually Thine; whilst I am on earth, I would serve Thee; and may I enjoy Thee and praise Thee forever!” Florence Nightingale (1820-1910): “I am thirty years of age, the age at which Christ began His mission. Now no more childish things, now Lord, let me think only of Thy will.” Jim Elliott (1927-1956): “God, I pray Thee, light this idle stick of my life, that I may burn for Thee. Consume my life, my God, for it is Thine. I seek not a long life, but a full one, like You, Jesus.”

上週六是除夕，我在和樂團契聚餐會上和大家作個年終分享，以一個簡單的信息去鼓勵大家在2012年為神而活。 我引用過去幾個神的僕人的心聲。 有幾位兄弟姐妹很喜歡那些名言，向我要一份副本。 所以，我決定今天與大家一起分享。 艾約拿單 Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758)： “我立了志向，一生都要遵行所有我覺得最能榮耀神的事情，同時只要我一息尚存，都要做對自己有益處，使自己長進和喜樂的事。” 慕安德烈 Andrew Murray (1828-1917)： “但願一生中每時每刻都活在神同在的亮光，慈愛，與喜樂之中，每時每刻都做一個完全降伏被神的靈和神的愛充滿的器皿。” 司布真 Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892)： “偉大和測不透的神啊，袮知道我的心思，明白我的意念。靠著袮聖靈的幫助，我在袮面前降伏。我獻上自己為理所當然的祭，全心全意的歸向袮。只要我一息尚存，我願意毫無保留，義無反顧的事奉袮。願我一生以袮為樂，永遠不停的讚美袮！” 南奵格爾 Florence Nightingale (1820-1910)： “我今年三十歲，這正是基督開始祂的使命的年歲。從今以後，不再做幼稚的事情。主啊，從今以後讓我心中想的都是袮的旨意。” 艾占美 Jim Elliott (1927-1956)： “神啊，我求你燃點我悠手好閒的生命，讓我為你燃燒。神啊，求用我一生，因我本來就是屬於袮的。主耶穌，我不求壽命長，只求像袮一樣，一生無憾。”
